Alex Valdez to Speak and Entertain During Pathfinder Services, Inc.’s Annual Dinner November 12th

Alex & Rocca Headshot B&W - Pathfinder Services

Pathfinder Services, Inc. will celebrate its Annual Community Recognition Dinner Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 at Huntington University. This year’s dinner will have a special keynote speaker and comedian, Alex Valdez.

Alex Valdez can’t see.  He is blind.  But he also can’t see obstacles stopping him from laughing his way into the hearts of people so they can be inspired to go beyond their perceived fears and limitations. Alex is a real pioneer having been the first comedian with a disability to gain national recognition as the winner of the first Norman Lear Comedy Competition.  He has won the hearts and admiration of his audiences of all ages and today he is recognized as one of the best and entertaining disability awareness speakers and trainers.

Alex’s goal is “not only to help audiences accept his own and others’ disAbilities, but to recognize that while we may all appear very different on the outside, on the inside we are all very much the same”. His messages combine life experiences and years of diversity and disability training.  The event is sure to be entertaining as well as inspiring.

Also at the dinner, the prestigious Herbert D. LaMont award will be presented to an individual or organization that has contributed significantly toward creating opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in the Huntington Community. The Timothy Hancher award honoring a direct service staff member of Pathfinder Services, Inc. will be presented and Outstanding Community Partners of the organization will also be honored.

The dinner will be held at Habecker Dining Commons, adjacent to the Merillat Centre on the grounds of Huntington University. Doors will open for the event at 4:50pm and will conclude around 7:30pm.  The price is $20 per person for dinner and Alex Valdez’s presentation, and Corporate Tables of eight are available for $200.

Anyone interested in attending should call Sheryl Glancy at Pathfinder Services at (260) 356-0500 or e-mail her at [email protected]  by Tuesday, October 29th.  A reservation form for the dinner can also be found by clicking here.
