Our Highlighted Positions

Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s) – Will work directly in the homes of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or at our day services program sites for Pathfinder Community Supports. DSP’s act as a mentor, teacher, and support to people with intellectual and other types of developmental disabilities, to assist them to live, learn, and work successfully as an active part of their communities. DSP’s also provide supports as needed, whether in their homes, day service locations, and/or community settings, to assist clients to reach their ultimate potential, while always taking into consideration their dreams and goals for their own lives.

Qualified applicants must have valid Indiana Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, High School Diploma or equivalent, ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, ability to occasionally climb stairs, ability to physically restrain, lift and/or assist clients, and availability to work a flexible schedule which could include Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Full time, part time and substitute positions are available. Job Coach: Responsible for the training and monitoring of individuals with disabilities who have obtained employment in the community. Assists individuals in adjusting to competitive community employment as necessary. Assists individuals in the orientation of the employer’s policies, procedures, products, services and standards. Trains individuals at the job site, physically assisting with duties until the individuals become proficient in the job; continues to train individuals resulting in improved performance levels. Works with the employee to assist them to complete the jobs assigned, will be completed on time and with good quality. Reports to Employment Specialist, Case Coordinator, and/or Resource Connection Coordinator on at least a weekly basis, both verbally and through necessary reports, regarding individual’s performance and any problems which may arise, including behavior issues. Assures that all paperwork (both Pathfinder Services and employer required) is properly completed and submitted on time. Acts as a liaison between Resource Connection and the community employer, through regular communication, to assure a continuous flow of information as it pertains to the individual’s job performance. Able to operate a motor vehicle safely to provide transportation to individual, as needed. Advise and assist individual’s in self-advocacy and appropriate socialization within the community workplace.

Qualified applicants have a high School diploma or equivalent. Two full years successful experience working with people with disabilities in a “helping” position. Ability to effectively deal with a variety of behaviors that limit successful employment. Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
