Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center Continues National NeighborWorks Week, Celebrates USDA’s HomeOwnership Month, Shares the Alexander’s Story

The Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center is releasing the second of five home ownership success stories for the week-long celebration nationally recognized as NeighborWorks Week.

During NeighborWorks Week (June 4-11), Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center and other NeighborWorks organizations across the country will mobilize tens of thousands of residents, business people and government officials in a week of neighborhood change and awareness. Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center recognized successful and long-standing partnerships with Granite Ridge Builders, NeighborWorks America and the USDA in Woodburn at the home of the Alexander family on June 8th.  The Alexander’s are new homeowners thanks to assistance from the Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center.

At the event, Alton Alexander spoke passionately about how thankful he and his family is for their new home and the freedom for his children to take walks and make friends with other children in the neighborhood.  John Niederman, President of Pathfinder Services, spoke to the importance of home ownership and the economic impact it makes on a community. Phyllis Crumrin, SFH Specialist with the USDA, spoke to the fact that June is National HomeOwnership Month spotlighting efforts to help rural residents realize the dream of home ownership.  As a housewarming gift, the Alexanders received a brand new grill and accessories from Pathfinder Services, NeighborWorks America, USDA and Granite Ridge Builders.

The Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center is part of the national NeighborWorks network, an affiliation of more than 240 nonprofit organizations located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In 2015, the NeighborWorks network helped nearly 356,000 individuals and families with affordable housing and counseling. The NeighborWorks network was founded and is supported by NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities.

To celebrate the week, Pathfinder Services will be releasing five stories highlighting an individual or family who has realized their dream of home ownership thanks to Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center.
