Chantal Sicile-Kira to be at Huntington City-Township Public Library on Saturday, November 7th

Pathfinder Services, Inc. and Huntington City-Township Public Library will welcome Chantal Sicile-Kira for an author visit and book signing at 11 am on Saturday, November 7th at the Main Library in Huntington.  

Chantal Sicile-Kira is an international speaker, author and advocate who has been involved with autism spectrum disorders for over 20 years as both a parent and as an autism professional on both sides of the Atlantic.   A bilingual French -American, Chantal raised Jeremy, now 20, in France, the UK and California.

Chantal has three books published by Penguin. Her most recent is Autism Life Skills: From Communication and Safety to Self-Esteem and More – 10 Essential Abilities Your Child with Autism Needs and Deserves to Learn (October 2008), which will be available for $10 at the event.  The Foreword in this book is written by Temple Grandin, Ph.D. Kira’s other books are Adolescents on the Autism Spectrum, recipient of the 2006 San Diego Book Award for Best in Health/Fitness; and Autism Spectrum Disorders, recipient of the 2005 Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Literary Work of the Year Award, and nominated for the 2005 PEN / Martha Albrand Award for First Nonfiction.

Kira’s family has been highlighted in the Newsweek cover story “Growing up with Autism” and featured in the MTV documentary True Life series, in “I Have Autism” which was the recipient of a 2008 Voice Award.

Chantal Sicile-Kira has also been chosen as the keynote speaker at Pathfinder Services, Inc.’s Annual Community Recognition Dinner Saturday, November 7th, 2009 at Huntington University, where she will share her story of “Raising a Child with Autism” as well as “Preparing Ourselves and Preparing for Change”.
