Churches Revitalization Efforts of the LaRez and Hanna-Creighton Neighborhood Continues

Revitalization of the Hanna-Creighton Neighborhood will continue on June 9, 2012 as volunteers from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Zion Lutheran Church and Pathfinder Community Connections landscape the home at 446 E. Creighton St. The two churches, which combined forces in 1998 to begin a comprehensive 10 block revitalization effort, now includes a new library, Urban League and CANI Headstart headquarters, new and rehabilitated homes and other improvements. In 2012, Zion Lutheran and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches partnered with Pathfinder Community Connections to renovate the Creighton Street house and offer it for sale at an affordable price with down payment assistance available. Starting at 9 a.m. June 9, the volunteers — who are asked to bring their own tools — will landscape including; plant flowers, spread mulch and complete other tasks designed to enhance the property’s “curb appeal.” Funding for the renovations were provided through grants from LCMS National Housing Support Corporation d/b/a Lutheran Housing Support and NeighborWorks®America. The landscaping project is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Central Allen County Chapter. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a Fortune 500 financial services membership organization helping approximately 2.6 million members achieve their financial goals and give back to their communities.
