Community Called to "Give a Dream" on Giving Tuesday with Pathfinder Services
While the rest of the world snacks on leftover pie and surfs the web for deals, Pathfinder Services will be mobilizing our community to “Give a Dream” on Giving Tuesday.
The not-for-profit’s Dream Fund allows individuals with disabilities the opportunity to fulfill their lifelong wishes. Their goal is to raise enough funds to support 7 dreams, which totals nearly $3,000, by November 29. Past fulfilled Dreams have included a Blackhawks hockey game, a specialty spa day, a Dolly Parton concert, and a ride in a new Chevy Camaro.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that was started by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in 2012. After consumer-driven days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, millions of people come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live on Giving Tuesday. People embrace this day as an opportunity to raise money for local nonprofits, schools and arts organizations; run food and clothing drives; teach children about philanthropy; encourage acts of kindness; collaborate with their neighbors and celebrate generosity.
“We are thankful for the donors who have made these Dreams possible for our clients,” said Kasey Davis, Development Director for Pathfinder Services. “Beyond financial gifts, we have seen in-kind donations to make these Dreams more special, including the use of a new Camaro and a free spa day for a client in Wabash. People really enjoy seeing individuals served by Pathfinder Services enjoy themselves, and I think our community is excited about what we’ll do next.”

#GivingTuesday is a movement, built by people around the world, to celebrate giving of all kinds. It is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), Black Friday and Cyber Monday; this year it falls on November 29, 2016. This movement is the result of the collective power of a unique blend of partners—nonprofits large and small; businesses and corporations; schools and universities; civic campaigns in cities, states and regions; and families and individuals—to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and contribute in countless ways to the causes they believe in. Everyone has something to give.
