Homeward Bound fights Homelessness

Over 200 people participated in Homeward Bound, to fight homelessness in Indiana, on Sunday, April 29th at Headwaters Park in Fort Wayne. On Thursday, May 3rd Beth Stevens- Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator for Pathfinder Services and Carolyn Ray- Shelter Manager for Huntington House, thanked Michael Zahn from First Federal Savings Bank of Huntington for their sponsorship of the event by presenting him with a plaque. Pathfinder Services and Huntington House are two of twelve organization’s who will benefit from proceeds raised from the walk. Totals raised from the walk will not be available for several weeks.

Pathfinder Services and Huntington House would like to thank additional sponsors of the event including: Huntington University, Kappa Kappa Kappa, Lancia Homes, Markle Bank, Miami Tool & Die and SS Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church.

Pathfinder Community Connections Transitional Housing program has ten homes in the counties of Huntington, Marshall and Starke counties. In 2011, of the families enrolled in the program, 100% attended one or more financial literacy classes, 80% actively decreased monthly debt, and 70% successfully rented or purchased a home. Huntington House provides short-term, immediate housing for homeless families, women and children who are in need.
