Kids Kampus Dedicates Fifth Annual “KinderGarden”

Pathfinder Kids Kampus child care center of Huntington, “A Caring Place to Go and Grow!” broke ground in the fifth annual “KinderGarden” on Thursday, May 20th. The children and teachers of Pathfinder Kids Kampus kicked off the summer early this year by beginning to plant their vegetable, herbs and fruit garden within walking distance of the child care center.Kids Kampus Administrator Lisa Mettler, Jerry Harvey, who donated the land for the “KinderGarden”, Jim Scheiber, who donated many of the fruits, vegetables, and flowers to be used in the garden, Erich Eller, who tilled and prepared the garden for planting as well as donated plants, and Gary Mast, Principal at Andrews Elementary School, whose kindergarten classes helped grow flowers and plants being planted in the garden were all on hand for the dedication. Pathfinder Kids Kampus would also like to thank Jerry Harvey, who donated the land for the “KinderGarden” but was unable to attend.

“We use gardening as an opportunity for the children to build a love and understanding of nature and social interaction,”stated Lisa Mettler, Administrator of Kids Kampus. “The garden provides a real world hands on experience to bridge academics with real life experiences.  It takes the classroom outside where children can continue to learn new and exciting things.” Mettler added.
