The Early Learning Alliance of Huntington County has been awarded a grant to expand preschool offerings at Pathfinder Kids Kampus. This expansion grant will support staffing and training needs as well as facility improvements for the child care center to offer preschool to 20 additional children.
The Early Learning Alliance is an active arm of the United Way of Huntington County and their mission serves in creating affordable, high quality learning experiences for Huntington’s youngest citizens to grow and thrive. Representatives from government, nonprofit, for-profit, and educational facilities make up the Alliance. Kyle Metzger, President and CEO, said, “We at United Way are thrilled to continue to partner with Pathfinder Kids Kampus as we have for several years. Access to high quality pre-k education is vital for a community to thrive, and we jumped at the chance to bring more early learning dollars into Huntington County.”
Both the Premier Preschool and the Family and Social Services Administration funded On My Way Pre-K programs at Pathfinder Kids Kampus offer high-quality pre-k programs to prepare children for success in school and beyond. Pathfinder Kids Kampus is now accepting applications; to qualify for the free On My Way Pre-K preschool, children must be 4 by August 1st, 2018 and must meet income eligibility and service need requirements. Premier Preschool is available for children 3-5 years of age and tuition assistance may be available. Premier Preschool runs from 9am – 3pm and options include five days a week, three days a week, or two days a week. Both On My Way Pre-K and Premier Preschool classrooms start August 8th and run through the 2018-2019 school year.
Pathfinder Kids Kampus will host a free Fun Fair on Saturday, July 14th from 1pm to 4pm. Families are invited to attend and learn more about the programs and services offered at the licensed child care center. There will be activities for children including: face painting, make-and-take crafts, story time and a cupcake walk. Pathfinder Kids Kampus staff will be onsite to answer questions, give tours and to assist families with applications for Premier Preschool and On My Way Pre-K as well as child care and Early Head Start.
“We are elated with this expansion opportunity, and so thankful to the Alliance for supporting our work,” said Elizabeth Hire, Pathfinder Kids Kampus Interim Administrator and Early Head Start Director. “These funds will provide much needed growth for our preschool programs and allows us to have a hand in shaping the future for the youngest members of our community.”
