“The staff walked me through with what I needed to start the process of being approved for and finding a home.” See Laura’s Video!
My husband died in October of 2010, and at that point I had no idea how to go forward. I had spent the last couple of years taking care of him and financially I wasn’t in any position to do anything. I happened to read an article in the Fort Wayne Newspaper about some of the services that Pathfinder Community Connections provides. It was a glimmer for me, there was some hope.
I called the Fort Wayne office, they sent me a huge packet of information, and I filled it out sent it back and we met. They helped me go through a deed in lieu on my house in Fort Wayne because there was no way I could pay for it. I didn’t want to just sit there and do nothing, I wanted to be proactive to some extent. It took a few months, it wasn’t really bad, maybe four or five months to get through that process.
Then I moved to Huntington, and moved in with my kids which was OK for awhile. I met with a credit counselor and she suggested that perhaps there was something Pathfinder Community Connections could do for me. I looked at some of the literature on home buying, made an appointment, and the staff walked me through with what I needed to start the process of being approved for and finding a home. I have a home and I’m happy. I moved into my home in July and it was really very nice and very comfortable to be able to do that. I couldn’t have done it if it had not been for your programs.
