April Newsletter

Making A Difference

A Note from John Niederman: I hope you are enjoying our newsletter. Our goal is to increase communication with you; our supporters, our volunteers, our families, and our friends. Over the months to come, we hope to share many stories of those we serve as well as highlight recent community events and also keep you informed of upcoming activities. There are many new and exciting things happening within the programs we offer at Pathfinder Services and I thank you for your support and involvement. Together we truly are Making a Difference in lives!

Prosperity: Good Fortune

Norman’s story defines the word prosperity – good fortune. He independently lives in a home that he owns, has a dog named Cherokee and has a job that he loves and does well. Norman’s good fortune is due to a bit of support from Pathfinder Services and a great deal of his own hard work and determination.

Community News

Stars at Kids Kampus

Volunteers from PNC Bank joined children of Pathfinder Kids Kampus for the One World, One Sky on Monday, February 25th. The children were invited into a portable planetarium where they learned about the stars and galaxies around us.

New Group Home on Cline Street

We recently held an open house at our newly constructed group home on Cline Street in Huntington. The over 4000 square foot, fully accessible home features 8 bedrooms and 4 baths and is home to 7 gentlemen served by Pathfinder Community Supports. The spacious group home on Cline Street was made possible through a grant awarded by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh through their Affordable Housing Program.

Flagstar Bank Nomination

We need your help! We have been nominated by Flagstar Bank to potentially receive $5,000! We need you to vote for Pathfinder Services. Voting is easy, and you have two options. The best way to vote would be to stop by Flagstar Bank in Huntington to place your vote. So next time you are in that area (Owen’s North, Aldi, Arby’s) consider stopping in to vote in person. If voting in person is not an option, you can also vote online with your email address. Just choose the Huntington Branch, and you will see Pathfinder Services in the list of nominations. That’s it!

Cookies, Canvas and Community

We had many community members join us for our Cookies, Canvas and Community event celebrating Disability Awareness Month. Artists came from Wabash, Fort Wayne, and Huntington to create beautiful watercolor tulips. Thank you for all that attended and stay tuned for the next Cookies, Canvas and Community.

Celebrating Disability Awareness Month

Mayor Brooks Fetters led a special Story Time session on Friday, March 8th at Pathfinder Kids Kampus, 435 Campus Street in Huntington. The sessions were part of the statewide celebration of March as Disability Awareness Month. Mayor Fetters read to 3, 4, and 5 year old children celebrating this year’s theme: “Be Cool. We are.”

Upcoming Events

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile at Kids Kampus

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be at Pathfinder Kids Kampus on May 9th from 9:30am – 4:00pm. Services such as screenings, immunizations, and wellness checkups are free to families without medical insurance or they can bill your insurance provider. This is open to all children in our community up to 18, but their focus is on wellness and immunizations for children under 5.

15th Annual Pathfinder Kids Kampus Turkey Trot

This Thanksgiving, the Pathfinder Kids Kampus Turkey Trot 5K will turn 15!  This fun, family-friendly event has created many traditions for members of the Huntington community while raising funds for the children and families we serve.  Learn how you can get involved in the celebration!

How YOU Can Make a Difference

Yes, YOU! We appreciate the many ways that our friends and advocates make a difference in the lives of those we serve. There are many ways to get involved and support our mission outside of direct monetary donations. Everything from purchasing pieces of art to volunteering your time and talents furthers our cause. Even shopping at Amazon Smile, purchasing pies or donating services to fulfill a dream are all simple ways you can make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Egg My Yard

Brighten a child’s Easter and a child’s future by supporting the Egg My Yard fundraiser. The perfect gift for busy parents, for grandchildren or for a family served by Pathfinder Kids Kampus. Simply choose how many treat filled eggs you want to either pick up at Pathfinder Kids Kampus OR have hidden in the yard(s) of your choice by our volunteer Easter Bunnies. We’ve also included a GIFT YARD option if you’d like to egg the yard of one of our Pathfinder Kids Kampus families who otherwise would not have a visit from the Easter Bunny. Proceeds benefit the children served by Pathfinder Kids Kampus.

Pathfinder EZPROMO logo

Pathfinder EZPromo

Did you know that Pathfinder OutSource Manufacturing can help promote your business through our EZ Promo line? We have access to over 900,000 products that your logo can be put on to advertise at events or to give as gifts to your customers.

Support a Dream Request

8 individuals recently enjoyed a Fort Wayne Mad Ants game and were Anthem Buddies and took on the important role of bench warmers thanks to the generosity of those who have supported our Dream Fund. While monetary donations are always appreciated, we gladly accept gifts from local businesses and individuals such as manicures, drum lessons, dinner discounts, or time on a fishing boat. For more details on how you can help fulfill dreams for those we serve, contact us at 260-355-2573.

Shop at Kroger

Did you know you can support Pathfinder Kids Kampus just by doing your grocery shopping at Kroger or Owens? It’s true thanks to their Community Partner Reward program! Simply enroll online by linking your Plus Card to Pathfinder Kids Kampus. Last quarter, we received $238.05 thanks to our 49 households who shop and support! Best news is that it doesn’t cost you a thing and this program does not affect those valuable fuel points!

Sign Up for the Fort-4-Fitness

If you’re planning to participate in the Fort-4-Fitness event in September or the Fantasy of Lights 5K in December, please consider choosing Pathfinder Services as your charity partner.

As we recently celebrated National Volunteer Week, we want continue to send our sincere thanks for all that our volunteers do for those we serve.  Whether time is spent volunteering at an event, rocking babies, creating art, or filing paperwork, we truly appreciate you!  You are making a positive difference and our organization wouldn’t be what it is today without those who choose to give of their time, talents and resources.  Now is a great time to get involved!
