Pathfinder Community Connections Accepting Applicants From Home Owners Who Might Qualify for up to $25,000 in Home Rehabilitation/Repair

Pathfinder Community Connections NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center, the Community Development division of Pathfinder Services, is now accepting applications from home owners who might qualify for home repair as part of the Communities for a Lifetime Project.  Qualifying households could receive up to $25,000 in home rehabilitation/repair.

Initial application requirements are:
– The house must be located in or adjacent to the historic Drover Town neighborhood in Huntington.
– Occupants of the house must be the legal owner; no rental properties will qualify.
– Homeowner must be 55 years of age or older by December 31, 2014 OR a person in the household must have a physical disability.
– Rehabilitation work done to the house must meet a need that is essential for day to day living. Pathfinder Community Connections NeighborWorks Home Ownership Center and program staff will determine the need.
– The house and the home owner must meet program requirements.

The Drover Town neighborhood in Huntington is located on Riverside Drive, Etna Avenue, and portions of South Lafontaine, William, Olinger, Hannah, High, South Jefferson and Henry Streets.  A full map is available at www.cchomes.org and www.pathfinderservices.org.  

Interested applicants residing in the Drover Town area need to apply by July 5th.  Initial applications are available at www.cchomes.org and at www.pathfinderservices.org or by contacting Jeff Teusch at [email protected] or at 260-356-0521.  No applications will be taken by the City of Huntington, and a submitted application does not guarantee approval.  Applicants will be required to complete additional paperwork include income verification.

Currently planned enhancements in Drover Town include:
– Rehabilitation of older, owner-occupied homes to improve accessibility for people with mobility issues.
– Increased energy efficiency in the homes.
– Henry Street sidewalk improvements to enhance accessibility, safety and walk-ability.
– Organization of Neighborhood Block Clubs to facilitate neighborhood improvement action-planning while strengthening and rebuilding a sense of community
