Pathfinder Kids Kampus Receives Huntington County Community Foundation Funds

Pathfinder Kids Kampus, “A Caring Placeto Go and Grow!” recently received a $1,000 grant to replace eleven existing cribs to meet federal safety standards.

“We are extremely appreciative of the grant from the Huntington County Community Foundation and for their support of Pathfinder Kids Kampus,,” stated Lisa Mettler, Administrator of Kids Kampus. “The new cribs will allow for our child care center to continue in exceeding Federal safety standards,” Mettler concluded.

Families can create a safe sleep environment at home for their baby by following these crib safety tips:

– Place infants to sleep on their backs. Use tummy to play and back to sleep,

– use a firm, tight fitting mattress,

– never use extra padding, blankets or pillow under baby,

– remove pillows or thick comforters,

– regularly check cribs for loose, missing or broken parts or slats,

– do not try to fix a broken crib – get a new one,

– place cribs or playpens away from windows and window covering cords to avoid fall and strangulation hazards,

– place baby monitor cords away from cribs or playpens to avoid strangulation.
