Pathfinder Services will sponsor a team of walkers for the Homeward Walk for Homelessness Awareness again this year. Pathfinder Services is looking for as walkers and sponsors for the event. Proceeds raised will go toward the Pathfinder Community Connections Transitional Housing Program and other nonprofit organizations throughoutNortheast Indiana.
The Homeward Bound 5K Walk takes place Sunday April 28 at 2:00 pm beginning at Headwater’s Park inFort Wayne. Registration begins at the start line at noon the day of the walk.
Pathfinder Community Connections Transitional Housing program has ten homes in the counties of Huntington, Marshall and Starke counties. In 2012, of the eight families enrolled in the program, 92 percent attended one or more financial literacy classes and 88 percent successfully graduated the program into sustainable housing.
“Our goal for this year is to raise at least $500 in pledges and have a good amount of walkers participate in Homeward Bound,” stated Beth Stevens, Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator for Pathfinder Community Connections. “Homeward Bound is an annual event focused on ending homelessness throughoutIndiana, and we are happy to participate,” Stevens concluded.
