NeighborWorks VISTA Pathfinder Friendraiser
Pathfinder has various programs designed to build social and or economic assets through a mix of asset building, disability support and community development strategies. Housing, financial literacy, and employment are included among the goals of these programs. The organization is mostly dependent on government funding and has traditionally not focused on local philanthropy. We are continuing to develop a Friendraising program specifically to increase our pool of sustainable and unrestricted local resources to preserve the quality of these program. Increased philanthropic revenues will help cover the funding gaps we experience in some programs where government funds are failing to cover the full cost of services we provide. Increased volunteerism will provide the capacity to go above and beyond. Volunteers can bring new ideas, relationships, and experiences as they share their personal talents and gifts to help add value through natural supports and enhanced service delivery.
Member Duties: The VISTA will help continue our Friendraising program by supporting the ongoing development of processes to recruit, engage and retain volunteers and directly participate in solicitation activities. The VISTA will also assist the staff in improving the recruiting and training processes and procedures and recording these in the volunteer manual. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining our constituent database and identify relationships with people and corporations who may be candidates for financial giving and working with the development team to solicit donors through personal solicitation, direct mail telephone and special events. The VISTA will work to find and draft stories in the community to use in appeals and our newsletter and will be engaged in community events to present our case for support and spread awareness about the programs we offer.
