January GEM Award Winner Jessica Thompson!
This month we are happy to spotlight Jessica Thompson for going the EXTRA MILE! Read below to understand the magnitude of Jessica's initiative!
“Jessica has a ‘can do’ attitude. If she can help you, she will! Most recently, there has been some turnover in the accounting department. Without batting an eye, Jessica has jumped in to make sure areas of the department are covered. Not only is she helping with the day-to-day tasks, she is looking at many tasks and figuring out how to make the process better. This helps to make the department more efficient and will help ensure a smooth transition for the new hire when that person is onboarding. Specifically, Jessica is re-learning all things Accounts Payable to help with this transition. While she has handled aspects of Accounts Payable in the past, the process has changed with the implementation of Concur. She was more than willing to be the one to learn the process and make sure that everything is set up for a smooth transition when the previous employee leaves. Not only does Jessica help when needed, she does it with a smile! She is often the first to reply to the rest of the team on a group Teams message with a GIF or words of encouragement to bring positivity to what could be perceived as a negative situation. She is very much appreciated! I am so glad she is part of our team!”
“I am nominating Jessica for always going above and beyond the call of duty. She is an excellent person to work with and will not only always put a smile on your face, but she will be the first person to volunteer to help anyone on the team when they are struggling. This is not only true for the accounting department; she will extend assistance and direction to all of those she interacts with within the organization. She is a true role model for every single one of Pathfinder's values. Recently, the accounting department has had a full plate. We are tightening deadlines, working on big projects, AND have audit on top of that. Recently, Jessica took on a challenge with a reporting issue relating to our required audit documentation. We had no idea if it was even possible to streamline this process, but Jessica did not complain once and dove straight in and spent the time and effort to make the reporting possible. Additionally, she is a core part of the accounting department on the daily and especially with month end. She assists in making sure deadlines stay on track, answers questions any of us may have, and even takes on additional tasks to ensure accuracy and timeliness. She demonstrates a drive and passion, and I have seen firsthand how quick and eager she is to volunteer for projects, tedious tasks, deep-dive research, and so much more. Since joining the department and the organization, Jessica has gone above and beyond anything I ever expected to help me get settled in, understand the systems that we use, and even streamline processes to make things quicker and easier. And even through all of this, there is always a smile on her face; she is simply a joy to work with. There are infinitely more examples of Jessica going the extra mile, and I am sure there are so many people in this organization that can attest to that.”
“Jessica is one of the most invaluable employees we have behind the scenes, and without her in our corner, we would all be lost. Her financial and policy knowledge of the company cannot be matched! No matter what department Jessica has worked in, she has always worked her hardest to ensure the company is taken care of to the fullest. She is always helping others, creating new innovative ways for us to do things as well as helping us all keep on top of all of our tasks. She is so kind and caring to all of us. She works so incredibly hard each and every day to make sure that the accounting department is running smoothly and that all entries are accurate. Her vast knowledge has carried accounting through years of change and growth, and she has helped us evolve into the department we are today. We are forever grateful and appreciate her selflessness and hard work for Pathfinder.”
